Traditional Sitar Concerts & Meditations

Sitar meditations and traditional concerts for listening and deep meditative experiences. Based on the five thousands year old tradition of Indian classical music and the raga system, this music transports the listener into a deep meditative state. Beautiful, peaceful, sublime.
Prosad has spent the last seventeen years studying traditional sitar and raga music with various masters, including Alam Khan, son of the legendary sarode maestro, Ali Akbar Khan Sahib. He has also also spent the last twenty two years studying mantra meditation, Vedic teachings for the modern world and learning the music of the inner spheres with Himalayan Master, Tulshi Sen. Kirtan – Devotional Singing
Devotional singing in groups has been done for centuries by cultures all across the world. A form of devotional singing from India called “Kirtan” is usually sung in Sanskrit ~ a language known for it’s powerful vibrations and ability to heal the body and affect the psyche and spirit with it’s sounds. This language was revealed to ancient sages in their meditations and the meaning of the word is reflected in the sound. This means that the meaning is understood by the body and subconscious mind even if the listener doesn’t consciously speak the language. Kirtan is usually guided by a leader as a “call and response” experience. It is highly joyful and highly addictive in the best of ways! Singing in groups has been scientifically shown to release oxytocin, the hormone that makes us feel loved and connected to others. The experience of kirtan very quickly helps joy bubble up from inside and is one of the best ways to feel love for ourselves and those around us. I was a skeptic until I tried it myself, now it is one of my favourite ways to share music!

Sound Healing and Meditation
Mystics and physicists will both tell us that the world is made of sound and vibration. By concentrating our attention on specific musical tones, ancient ragas and Sanskrit mantras (vibrational sounds or words of power) we can “tune” our bodies and our minds to bring ourselves into harmony with the cycles of nature and the greater Universe. Being in tune in this way helps us awaken to our highest purpose, deepest happiness and ultimately our full power as divine, creative beings. Through ancient ragas, vedic mantras and special tonal frequencies, Prosad helps to facilitate this inward journey of the soul. Through meditation we access higher states of conscious and touch the supreme and natural state of our being, known in Sanskrit as “sat, chit, ananda”, or truth, pure being-ness and bliss. Learn More
